On July 27, 2017, Desiree Spang, a certified nursing assistant at Life Care Center of Michigan City, Indiana, became a licensed practical nurse.
Spang completed her LPN courses at Indiana Vocational Technical College and received her nursing pin during the graduation ceremony.
“I have wanted to be a nurse, and I would not have been able to go back to school without the help of Life Care,” said Spang. “My dream became real.”
“All of us in the building are so proud of Desi,” said Terri Phillips, executive director. “We know that she is going to be an excellent nurse. I am thankful that Life Care believes in its employees and invested the time and money for Desi to reach her dream.”
Spang is highly respected at the facility and mentors new associates. She has repeatedly won the facility’s annual CNA of the Year Award.
Once Spang passes her boards, she plans on continuing her education next spring and taking classes to become a registered nurse. She is now working as an LPN.
